I want to share some information about track racing at the manchester velodrome. I ride on a Monday evening. This is the ACT track league which runs from January to December. This track leage is run in two parts. The first part is from early Jan to the end of April. The second part is run from the beginning of September to early December. It is open to juveniles, juniors, 3rd cat seniors and up to 2nd cat vets. (There are some very fast youngsters on the way up). There are four guarenteed races. The evening starts with a 12 lap Scratch race. Then a Devil take the Hindmost . A 12 lap Course de Prime with 1/2 a track point on the line every lap. Then a Points Race. Depending on what group you are in it would either be a 30 lap or a 50 lap with points every 5 laps. Every other week a 50 lap Madison (crazzzzzy people) with points every 10 laps. This is held for those who would rather ride this than the Points race. There are also two other races which you may be invited to ride. The Keiren of the Team Pursuit. (only one per week).
At the end of the year there are trophies to the winner of their league.
British cycling points apply to the league positions.
Yours truely is currently leading the vets league. (which im probably going to be caught when we start up again).
Results can be found on the British Cycling web site. Once at the BC site, select find results and use the filter to select the region and disceplin.
